Need help with bug identification

Discussion in 'Macro, Flowers, Insects, and Greenery' started by Uncle Frank, Sep 3, 2008.

  1. My son-in-law is finding a fair number of this little insect in his Seattle home.

This shot was taken on the back of his hand.

An idea what it is, and if it's dangerous in a house with an infant?
  2. I believe that is a weevil. Harmless. but they eat grain so check your flour, cereal..........and so on

Sitona hispidulus possibly? ... common clover weevil.

Frank, check the description here -- kinda looks like the clover weevil, but you've had the best look at it.
  4. Thanks for the help, guys. I've looked at the Google image files for the Sitona hispidulus, and am pretty sure that's what I saw. Is it safe to assume they're harmless?
