I don't think you acquired focus on 2 or 3

Good stuff. That first shot is really nice. As Randy pointed out it looks like you lost focus on the birds in nos.2 and 3. Particularly on the adult bird's head. What focus mode were you using?

The first one in my mind is your best photo you've posted in the last year or so. Very well done!

It might be informative for you to run all three photos through Nikon's raw converter to determine the focus point. That assumes you didn't recompose after focusing.
