Those High-Iso samples look pretty good, at least for straight jpgs....tempting, tempting...

I can imagine those snaps….and embracing single life again too…

On a serious note…for now, I do need the extra “reach” of the D300 to use on the 500 F4, and I really can’t see myself letting the D2Hs go (would also loose too much money and it’s worth much more than I’d be able to sell it )….kitting myself with low-light lenses has also been very, very expensive so I’ll have to pass the D700…for now…until then I’ll probably sell the 50 F1.2 AIS and sell more surf photos to finance an FX camera.

Thank you for this thread, Peter.

Can you say, that it is the same iso-value - IQ - as the D3 ?

The D300 is a world apart from my D80....this sucks and rocks at the same time.
