New England Sand Sculpture @ Revere Beach (lots of pics)

Today I met up w/ some fellow Nikon shooters at the New England Sand Sculpture Festival, held at Revere Beach (just north of Boston).

I got there a bit early, and unfortunately, it absolutely poured (and thunderstormed). There was some damage to the statues. I was able to take some pics, but then, about an hour and a half later, it poured/tstorms again. More damage to the statues.

Here are some of the pics....a quick edit as I'm going through them. I used my 17-55 and 70-200, lighting was all over the place, from dark, stormy to sunlight, then early evening sunlight.

I'm just in awe of the talent to make these...

Also saw Samantha Brown of the Travel Channel at Kelly's Roast Beef...

C&C always welcome...

thanks John & Gretchen...definitely mark it in your calendar for next year John, there's also one at Hampton Beach in New Hampshire that Gretchen shot last year, I think it's in June?

hey thanks Greg. The beach has really been revived in the past few years, for the better....it is an interesting place, a real 'melting pot'

Excellent shots. I especially like a part of #11!

(Oops, I figure I better edit before someone gets the wrong idea! I'm talking about the Bruins logo ["yooge fan"], as I just noticed what I think is Wonder Woman can also be considered appealing , but was not what I was thinking about when I wrote the above!)

Nice series. #18 looks somehow familiar. Maybe that artist also made a sculpture at one of the last "Sandsation" contests in Berlin in the last years. It's amazing how large those sculptures are!
But.... are there lightning rods on #18?!

Thanks Daniel, that could be, the artist is Carl Jara from Cleveland, Ohio, but he could get overseas as well.

LOL, no, those are to keep the birds off the sculptures...

They did that here in Sacramento a few years ago at the local outdoor mall and then at the State Fair. I was amazed at the detail. You could come and watch them sculpt before the show, the time and effort that goes into these. WOW, great shots. Thank you for sharing.
