New Nature Preserve

  1. I was saddened to read of HarryB's wetlands being "developed". Fortunately, in my town we have a new nature preserve. This preserve was purchased by the city and now has a boardwalk around some of the water accessible areas. Much of the preserve has small trails through the woodlands.

I was pleasantly surprised when I took my new D2Xs out there for a spin yesterday. All of these were shot with only the 70-200mm VR. I need to go back there with a longer lens.

    The spoonbills were skittish

    Rabbits were everywhere

New families were trying out the water

    Under watchful eyes...

An osprey nest is there with 3 babies! Dad searching for lunch.

Something must have caught his eye

I made a new friend on the boardwalk.

What a great place to shoot and you have made the utmost of it. Every image a beauty. I am soooo jealous of you Floridians(besides my living in snow country).
  9. WOW! Can't decide which I like the best - the Mom and her babies swimming brought out an "awwww!" Guess I have to say every photo is just goergeous! Now get back out there with that big bad camera and get some more!

  12. Thanks, Andy.

The best part of this place is that it is a short bike ride from my house!
