Just switched from Canon.
Bought a D300/Grip, Tokina 12-24 f/4, 35f/2. Can't wait for the FedEx man.
Welcome aboard, but I must ask what made you switch?
Nikon CLS, ability to use older (cheaper) MF Nikkor lenses, Ergonomics, and overall feel of the camera. I just feel that the Nikons are more intuitive than the Canons are.
Congrats--I think most people feel that way about Nikon ergonomics. The 12-24 and 35/2 are always good choices.
cannons menu system confused me (used a friends lol), good luck on the new camera:biggrin:
Welcome to the light or, the Dark Side if you know a lot of Canon owners.
Hi & Welcome to the Cafe'...
The D300 is a great camera and coupled with those lenses will give you great results...
BTW, Whats your first name, nice if you could put it in your signature....
Hope things work out as you hope and expect them to.
youre gonna love the 300. i came from a 20D + 10-22 + 24-70 + 70-200/4 + 85/1.8 kit.
i gotta say, i am MUCH happier with my current kit. IQ has jumped, despite the fact i've gone from "pro" glass to "consumer" ones. the xxD line has got nothing remotely close to the D300's af system. this alone was worth the switch. but the ergonomics and CLS?? its not just icing on the cake...its a whole other cake!!
the moment you take your first wireless flash exposure with the built-in flash commander, you'll never look back...
I've had my 300 for 3 days now. It's definitely more complex than my D60 was but also much more powerful... I love it. You'll like yours
Welcome to the Cafe!
I look forward to seeing your photos!
I too switched from Canon last year. The D300 is a great camera with so many features I have just scratched the surface in learning them. Enjoy!
Welcome to the CAFE - Make sure to post some photos
Welcome. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the performance of the D300 w/grip.
Word on the street is your fedex man arrived. But a 35mm in a 50mm box...why even send the box? Congrats.
for anyone interested, my unupdated website - www.austincabot.com
Just got the camera today and boy is it great. Miles ahead of my 30d.
Hopefully picking up an 80-200 f/2.8 AF-S and a 17-35 f/2.8 on sunday.
