Hi all,

I just bought a Sigma 150-600 Sport and I'd like to do some bird photography. I have a nice grassy pond behind me and there is usually some blue heron around. I did see one fly over my house last week but I don't know if there are many still around this time of year in New Hampshire.

When do they hunt mostly, will I have a good chance of seeing one early morning or later in the day?

I took a walk out to the pond today to scout around at noon and there was nothing to be seen.

Here's a pic of the pond that I took today during my scouting. It feeds a local river so there's fast moving water at the south end just after the beaver dam.

Thanks for any help.

Most birds and animals are more active at day break/early morning or in the evening. Try researching the bird or animal you hope to photograph. Learn what kind of habitat it frequents, what kind of food it eats, nesting habits, etc.
