...but originally in die Walküre... one of my favorite operas.

Yes, absolutely. But I think the reason for the Valkyrie flying in the first place applied to the movie use. There was a terrible battle and the warriors were going to be escorted over to their version of heaven. Didn't the movie use it in a battle context? I can't remember ever watching the movie.
Thus, Desmond ought to put some speakers on the drone in sympathy/empathy -- calling for the Valkyrie to come for all the shoes he's going to wear out chasing it -- all the soles prematurely lost in the conflict.

Yep, in Apocalypse Now the Helicopters are charging forward like the cavalry with their
guns and rockets blazing. All the time that music is being blasted from a large loudspeaker
hanging from the lead chopper.

At least that's how I remember it. I'm getting old and sometimes mix scenes from one
movie with another, especially when I haven't seen them for a long time.

I've never seen the movie, but I've seen the opera several times. Wagner's stage directions, written in the middle of the 19th century, call for the Valkyries to ride through the sky. I can certainly understand how it may have been adapted for the movie.

It would be interesting to see how many of us are part-107 licensed and/or have 333 exemptions.

in NZ everyone has to fly under 101 rules. IN some areas you need a "wings" badge so you can fly within 4km of an airport and some folks get 102 exemptions which gives more scope, ie flying after dark. It is surprising how many airports there are even in a small country like NZ

This seems like so much fun. I am not sure how much I'll be able to use it. For the cost of a good Nikon lense, I have a Mavic Pro on it's way. We should definately get a drone discussion area.

Wow. My heart goes out to any homeowners that got flooded. Looked like several and maybe a business warehouse. One neighborhood in Houston got flooded three times in 2 years. Some friends of mine went over there twice (1 week each time) to help them clean up. Not fun.

In this particular area not many got flooded because the river has burst its banks before and most houses were only on the edge of the water. We just got back from a drive to some falls an hour from that spot - busy processing drone video :)
