New Tulips.

  1. This is a simple subject and required no complicated techniques. To photograph something like this you do not need special gear either.
These tulips were placed in front of a window at my home heading South. The light was too soft lacking any contrast. I positioned my Manfrotto tripod with the ambient light to my back so the interior of the house was dark.
I used the SB-400 on the hot shoe of my D70s but placed a diffuser on the flash. To make sure the dark areas were even darker, I cranked the sync speed to 1/500 sec. Try that we the D3!
I used the cheap, plastic 18-55 kit lens.
While editing I used a soft Gaussian blur.
