I decided to put Tamron 20-40 zoom on my NEX 3 using simple adapter. It does work very well togeather, although the lens is a little too big for the body .

First here are the Brick Wall.
Shutter Speed was low and ISO was 1600, so IQ is bad, but you can gage the distortion.
I'm not even sure if I focused right.

After shooting with NEX3+ Tmron 20-40 combo for a few days I came to this conclusion:
Although perfectly workable, the lens is to big for the NEX body. Focus is not as easy and precise as with Ai/Ais lenses. If you pixel peep at 100%, you can see limitations of the lens on the NEX body. Zoom range does feel short on a telephoto end for me on DX. This lens is so much better on D700 where it will live for now! It felt very good to put my Nikon 24 f2.0 Ais back on my NEX3. Here are some more pictures with NEX3 and Tamron 20-40:
