A friend invited me over to photograph his night-blooming Cereus.
I am not a flower/plant guy. I had never heard of one. Scouted it out 3 nights ago.
This blooms once a year, blooms open after dark. Last night was the night!
It was amazing watching these enormous blooms open over about 2 hours.
It was also raining and windy.
The wind helped my feeble attempts at light painting fail.
Off camera flash worked great, but the backgrounds were not attractive.
I knew there were images here somewhere. I was able to cut off one of the blossoms and bring it back for some tabletop work last night.
By the way, this is a cactus. Thorns everywhere. I found that out the hard way.
With tabletop lighting this started to come together.
I stayed up way too late last night. Played like a kid.
This morning, the flowers are dead, petals have dropped.
There may be another bloom coming up, if so I get to play again!!

Thanks for the feedback. These are all light paintings. I liked the implied bottle in 1, but that may be because I know it was really there.
The stem of this flower was delicate, floppy and not very good looking- so I tried to hide it as best I could. It also shed little hairs into the water, so the water-even after changing- had all kinds of crap floating in it. Hopefully I get another shot at this, there may be another bloom coming in a few days. Gives me some ideas of what to do better.

Re-worked the 3rd and 4th images. Cleaned up the 4th background. I was torn, as it meant removing some water/glass detail. But I think this will look better in print. Brought our the bottle more in the 3rd.
I really mean it, thanks for the guidance. It really helps to hear what others think, and how they see images. Self-isolated my normal social groups are less available.
Plus, I have really thick skin.
Thanks again for thoughts.
