I absolutely love my 17-55 with the D80 and D300. It's a sharp and versatile lens.

Unfortunately, I am about to sell the lens. I just purchased a D700 (full frame) along with the 24-70 f/2.8. I'm transitioning away from my DX lenses. It kills me to lose this particular lens, though. :frown:

Last summer, I tried capturing images from within just a few miles of my house. Both of those scenes are just 10 minutes from my front door!

It's a fantastic lens, you will love it.

I love this lens also and getting ready to make the decision to sell or keep with the addition of a D700 in the near future. I want to keep the D200 as a backup so I may keep this combo together as a great walk around lens.

I don't post much and mine aren't nearly as good as Glenn's but here are a couple I have to share. I love this lens so much I thought I should share.

Love mine... You don't have to worry about sharpness, you just set the aperture based on the depth of field you want and start shooting. Samples below....

Hey, nice shot. I tried one like this after seeing a similar one on Nikonians. In fact, this one looks very familiar. It may be the one I saw when I tried mine. This was taken with the 18-200VR.

Hey, nice shot. I tried one like this after seeing a similar one on Nikonians. In fact, this one looks very familiar. It may be the one I saw when I tried mine. This was taken with the 18-200VR.

I happened to see a similar shot before I captured mine. It was a fun shot--placing the SB-600 inside the pages of the book.

Hi Laura.

The 17-55 is the most versatile lens and the best quality I ever used. Got it three years ago - and there's still a big grin on my face every time I use it.

I handheld my D80 with the 17-55 set at wide open (f/2.8), ISO 800 at 1/160th of a second. The 17-55 really earned its keep with this shot!

You know, many of us are usually stuck into a mindframe that we can't easily break.

Like, if you go to the ball game, then you can ONLY take good photos if you are close to the playground, and if you have a telephoto lens....

But at this game, you obviously were at the "wrong" place with a "wrong" lens, so you just couldn't take some good photos, could you?

Some people wouldn't even try.

And then you come up with a shot like this one, to show all of us that sometimes it takes breaking out of the restrictive mindframe in order to take great photos.
