This lens was included with my Nikon D70, but I'm not very happy with it.
I can spend about €500 ( $640 ) for another one.....any suggestions please?

I had a 70-300 AF-D for a while, then traded it in for an 80-200 AF D. Now I have the 70-200 VR and recomend it. It is a very sharp lens, however, rather big and heavy.

Great suggestion, Bill. I have the same budget as Francis, so if you'll let me know where I can find a 70-200VR for $640, I'll pick it up today.

Not the same optics, the 70-200 f/2.8 VR is quite a bit sharper than the best of the 80-200mm f/2.8 lens.

Whether or not it is worth the price difference to the person buying is another story.

I have the 70-300G as well

I don't love it, but will use it until I decide what to replace it with.

I just learned about the Sigma 70-200 2.8 HSM in another post on this forum yesterday. How do you think this compares with the 80-200D? They are roughly the same price. Is one clearly the best with the D70? How does it compare in size and weight? I am a small person and am concerned with carrying around a big lens.

Love to hear feedback from those with experience with these two lenses.
