Lovely work as always, Jonathan. I really *must* start using my V1 again, but I might sell the J1.

The J5 technically has the better sensor, but I really like how these V1 raw files look once processed! I still think the Nikon 1 series was a failure on many fronts, but it's still the only small sensor camera system with OSPDAF and the ability to have crazy telephoto reach using Nikon F-mount lenses! For the low prices you can pick these cameras up for, they're nice to have in the kit when you want to travel light, but aren't fond of using your phone.

Also I find these cameras are good for honing your raw editing skills. If you can make CX format images look good, how much more when you have the leeway from a 24mp or 45mp camera!

It's a bit sad Nikon discontinued the system after it finally got it right! A V3 successor would of been amazingly good. :(
If Nikon made a V4 with an integrated EVF like the V1 and V2, at a competitive price, I might have gone that way, rather than micro 4/3.
The add-on EVF of the V3 killed my desire for the V3. To me the integrated EVF was one of the key differences between the V and J series.

Looking at picking up a J5 and housing for a relatively inexpensive dive/snorkel setup! This image thread definitely reaffirms that thought.

Plus, with a few bits, it would make an interesting addition to my Z gear (with F lenses).

I keep mine around because it's a pretty handy camera, has great raw malleability and it makes for a crazy 2.7x image crop when using the FT1 adapter!
