BuyDig has a V3 kit for $389. I don't like power zooms, I just bought 2 lenses, I don't like power zooms, I just bought............

BuyDig.com - Nikon 1 V3 Mirrorless 18.4MP Digital Camera with 10-30mm Lens - Black Refurbished

I opted for a J5 and V1 combo instead which comes in cheaper than the V3 if shopping around. I get the latest 20.8mp BSI sensor in the J5 and the V1 with integrated EVF, SD card slot and the EN-EL15 battery compatible with the D800/D750/D850 cameras. I usually use the J5 with the 10mm 2.8 as a small pocket shooter and the 10-30mm PD on the V1. The 10-30mm PD VR is sharp as heck too. Love that lens!

Well another reason I've resisted is I have Fuji X70. It's virtually the same size as V3 body and thinner than the J5 + 10mm with the same ~28mm. But these prices keep making me refresh myself on the reasons NOT to get one.

Yeah, but you can also slap an 18.5mm 1.8 and 10-30mm PD on a J5/V3! :D I like the the 10-30mm PD when just taking family snaps and the 18mm 1.8 gets use for a bit of subject isolation. I also have a 10-100mm non-PD VR that I use on the V1 and that lens is the best super zoom I've used on any MILC.

In retrospect, I think the Nikon 1 was a failure mainly due to overpricing, lack of vision and terrible marketing, but you can see sparks of genius in the system and much it laid the framework for the Nikon Z. The one ergonomic aspect (from the Nikon 1) I wish they ported over was the scroll dial. They moved all the buttons to the right side of the Z6/Z7, but omitted the scroll dial that makes one handed operation a breeze on the 1. o_O

Price and not moving quickly enough to the 20mp 1" sensor (Sony probably had a hand in that). The first RX100 came out in 2012, it took two years for the 1 series to get to 18mp and another to get the 20mp sensor. For the J and S series market that saw 10mp vs 20mp and had no clue what phase AF meant they were a hard sell.
