I just purchased one of these from KEH yesterday. I'd been lusting after it for awhile now and figured, "Why not"??

I'm bringing this old thread up because I just won an AI version of this lens. From the photos, it looks to be in excellent shape, paid $115 for it.

I can't wait for it to arrive, I know I'm going to love it.

Great images everyone.

I love how you isolated the snow flakes :)

and the first landscape is very very well made with a proper three layer composition! the yellow-brownish colors work well here, the trees in the foreground work as an anchor.
the second one is a bit too generic with not much to grab your eye, compared to the very good first one :)

Some very nice work, Andrew, with an extraordinary lens. I'm sure you'll love it even better as time goes on. Very nice set of images, as well. Well done!

Thanks guys.

I went on a hike in the high country today, about 6 miles of snow hiking. Winds were hitting close to 50 m.p.h.

Here's a couple more with the 105mm F2.5 AI and the D600

It's the first Nikon lens I ever bought back in Jan 1980 and is still one of my best lenses and I have some good ones. Great shots BTW Andrew.

A couple more.

The first one I had a little welding project to do and since I never shot any welding before, I though it would be a good time to experiment. So, I set up my tripod and my D600 to a 20 second timer and here's what I came up with.

It would be MUCH easier shooting someone else while they are welding, but you gotta do what you gotta do :)

This next one is of an air plant in my small town in the evening.

Really nice images, Andrew! Love the welding shot. Really cool how you've managed to expose the shot correctly and still capture some of the surrounding gloves, etc., as context.
And the night shot has a lovely sky set against the lights below. Very nice!

It is indeed a wonderful lens. Extremely sharp, with excellent color rendition and IG. I was infact told to be careful using it for portraits of women, because it can capture all those lines on the face sharply to give away the age

Shot with D300 using it's manual lens setting for focus
