First Image Posting

A couple images from the funeral of Tattoo Charlie in Louisville Kentucky last week. Both were stopped down to f/2.5.

Dressed to the nines

These are contestants waiting to enter the arena at the World Championship Horse Show, Louisville Kentucky. I think the young man looks like a page from GQ. The look on the young lady's face makes me wonder what is going through her head as she waits.

Both were captured at f/2.2

Wow, there are some awesome shots in here! Wish I could afford one to throw on my D200 :-( Oh well, maybe someday...
Is there anything under $2k that can approach this quality?

70-200/2.8 VR comes fairly close in my opinion. Maybe it will be different with a different camera though.

180/2.8 should come fairly close as well.

I have both the 70-200/2.8 and the 200/2.0 and in my humble opinion they are not comparable. The bokeh of the 200/2 is unreached.

Agreed

Today I tested the also very good and much praised AF 180mm f2.8 against the AFS VR 200mm f2, and only at f5.6 the 180mm f2.8 comes fairly close. At f2.8 the difference is clearly visible and CA also bothers the 180mm quite a bit at that aperture. I have the comparison in Photoshop layers now, so it's fairly easy to compare all the test results at various sizes.
