I'm looking at getting a 300 zoom for my D750.
I'm leaning towards the 70-300 as I have read it is lighter than the 28-300 and gives sharper images. Although I have read reports that some people claim to have just as good results with both.
Has anyone here had experience with either of these lens and what's the verdict regarding which gives the sharper images. I will probably be using it for some portrait work around 80 to 100 and street scenes around the 300 mark.

I can only attest to the quality of the 70-300E AF-P.

I’d go out on a limb and state that it odd probably the best 70-300 out there for f-mount. The auto focus is blazing fast and the IQ gets close to the 300/4E PF at times.

I’m more of a 2 lens 2 camera guy because I like the convenience of a zoom, but have not been able to accept the compromise in IQ that comes with a super zoom.

The closest superzoom I’ve found that I could even tolerate was the Z 24-200, and even that fell short in places against the Z 24-70/4, so sold it.

That 24-200 is probably the best superzoom out there, if that tells you anything.

Samples I’ve taken with the 70-300

Thanks for the link to your shots with the 70-300, some very nice shots. I’m going out to get one.

I made this snap a couple of days ago. It's with the latest Nikon AF-P (FX) at the 300mm setting @ f/8. It's the unedited, unprocessed JPEG that I Wi-Fi'd from the camera to my phone. I really like my 70-200 f/4 glass, but wanted something just a bit more compact for traveling. I've been pleased with the results from this lens so far.
