Nikon 28mm f/2.0 AI-s - any shots?

Discussion in 'Lens Lust' started by puddleduck, Aug 27, 2008.

  1. Hi folks

I've had a WTB: add for the f/2.8 version of this for a while, but I came across a mint f/2.0 version for the same price as the f/2.8 so I bought it

I want it for its flare resistance, and for general landscape work.

This seems to be a legendary lens (Bjørn Rørslett's top pick) - but with few shots to show it off that I can find!

    Anyone got any?

I have just ordered one. Also for the flare resistance.

well, can't find anything really impressive right now, from this lens, here are just a few taken at tough light con's, #1 &2 shot at f/2.0, ISO640, #3,4 at f/2.8, ISO800 and 250....

Here are a bunch from mine. Great lens. Sharp, contrasty, close focus, smooth bokeh, excellent color. Several of these are from my unfinished "April Fool" assignment last year.

    All D200, not much post-processing.

    1. Sunbreak at Windansea beach, f/8

    2. Footprints at sunset, f/8; no post

    3. Land, sea and foam aglow, f/5.6; no post

    4. Iceplant and surfer, f/8; no post

    5. Hey, baby, what's your sign? f/2 (background is a sidelit hedge across the sidewalk, about 5 feet/1.5m back)

    6. Closeup: my foot and friend, f/2

    7. No post of mine is complete without a cat or two. Verb thinks it's a Sears Portrait Studio session, f/2.8

    8. Dreamy, creamy f/2: Zoe wide open with a little of that AIS glow; it's the best approach for ladies of a certain age.

Great thread. I was looking at this lens at Keh just the other day. There giving them away .
Nancy: Wow you got a great eye. I love the beach capture and the cat shots.
Igor: Very beatifull capture. I think the bokeh on the very pretty girls is amazing.

  6. The 28mm F2.0 AI-S and the Noct are my favorite old Nikkor lenses, this one at night taken with the D2X in Moonlight only - on a tripod....

Here is the shot with the Noct the same night BTW...

Thanks, Gregory! April is a good time for light here. Hard NOT to get a good shot. I'm still not crazy about the angle of view (happier with 24 or 50 on DX), but the quality of this lens keeps me coming back for more practice.

My compliments to Igor, too. I think we have several of the same lenses.

Nice comparison, Andreas. And the difference is ... ?

I keep wanting to drop some of these into the 30 vs 35 wide open thread.

  9. Not very big, that was my point, however at 100% I can see it especially in light flares

  16. Thanks for the shots - too be honest, I've not really used my 28mm at all, and tended to use my 17-35 AF-S @ 28mm :(

Must use it more, it sat in my bag for 3 weeks on a recent phototrip!
