Wow, some beautiful examples of what this lens is capable of!! I love the "design" style shots of the auditorium, etc as well!

Great close up - its one that really shows us the lens`s potential...

Thanks, sorry I had to soften her face a bit because her blemishes were really showing that close. This lens is just really tack sharp and I love the colors SOOC.

give me a reason to give up my small, sharp, quick focusing 35/2

If you need someone else to give you a reason then you don't want/need it.

I sur won't try to convince you. I just know that I hardly hesitated when buying the 1.4 vs the 2. In fact my only hesitation was with the 24 1.4

To some people f1.4-1.8 is a big deal. 35 1.4G is also sharper than the 35/2. The price tag is hard to justify for some people, but if bokeh, sharpness and an extra amount of light is necessary, the 35 1.4 or 1.8 is your lens.

does anyone here really need it ?

and actually my hesitation is same as yours.......24/1.4

I'd hop on a newer 28/1.4

Well I didn't want to use my 17-35 anymore (a very wide angle is "too easy") and wanted a 1.4 prime to "replace" it. This was the best candidate and judging by the short time I've been working with it I can say it was a good decision!

I didn't hesitate long, the 35 is a better do it all even if sometimes I do end up against a wall.

Just gotta get both 24 and 35!
I haven't received mine yet, but it's on order.
I do "need" it after shooting with the zoom trinity and slower primes + flash. I prefer the look of natural light so I'm hoping to use the 1.4 A LOT.

I did have the 35L when I shot Canon and used it about 40% of the time...50% 70-200, 10% others.
