why not just shoot the 85 1.8 then ?
i try to avoid TC-s

Randy, I have and love the 85 1.8. And if I am using my full kit, it is always with me. But I'm talking about a traveling/walking about kit with a body and 18-135 in a small holster case, and a lens combo that adds 50 f/1.4-2.2 and 100mm f/1.4-2.2, and is still tiny and light enough to fit in a single accessory pocket. That's the reason...size and weight and useful focal lengths.

I am not a fan of the bokeh in a couple of those shots. If I were in a similar situation, I would consider the 100mm E 2.8 lens as an alternative. Of course, nothing is as small as a 1.4 converter.

The 50 1.4 is not a bokeh champ...but it is fast enough to create decent blur and bokeh in most cases. I am going to be trying the 2X with the new 35 1.8....I suspect that may provide a 70mm f2 combo with actually pretty good bokeh.
