It took me a while and, but I finally found the time to go out for a long shoot with my AF-S VR 600mm f/4G IF-ED and D300 ;)

f/4 around the closest focus distance, about 50% crop:

f/4 at a distance. The 100% crop lacks critical sharpness though. I also needed strong editing to get rid of the haze. Panorama crop:

The weather and recent busy schedule only give me one day of shooting with it. The birds were quite far away that day and I had just enough reach with the 600 VR.

Great pictures Phil, and I agree Greg ;) We couldn't stay behind!

Some more, both at f/5.6 and WB at 5000K for the cool look ?

I have to believe that this is a pretty exclusive group right now. i'm interested to see how many people post.

gary

Simon also has one. And in the meantime we'll do our best to show it's capabilities with new pictures on a regular basis so this thread will stay alive :)

Here 2 action shots at f/5.6

Don't have the VR yet. But it will eventually come (after the 400mm VR) :)

Only have the venerable AiS 600mm/4.

Wow... now that is some reach. The 2X didn't seem to soften up the image too much. BTW, I think you guys are teasers, playing us and getting us all salivating with your new toy... LOL. Just kidding. Great glass and equally great users to use it to make some nice images.

I might have one, but unfortunately currently either I have no time, or the weather is wrong. So no results that I am happy with so far :frown: but I am hoping the weather will stay fine so I can change that situation this weekend......

Tripod VR 1/60s

A fairly ordinary "technical" shot with the D2X at ISO 100 f/5.6 from a cheap Manfrotto 055B Pro with the Wimberley head at 1/60s.

If you don't mind my asking, where was this picture taken? East Africa?

My question is "where is everyone finding these lens", I am planning on purchasing one. My main source is B&H, but they are never in stock.
