Nothing wrong with the focal range (smaller, lighter but covering an equivalent of 200mm odd and a wide angle) Kind of an updated 18-105mm
Price seems all wrong though it screams bundle deal with a body

Ok so now we have 18-105, 18-135 and 18-140. Nikon needs to plug those holes urgently. Where are the 18-110, 18-115, 18-120 and 18-125 and 18-130mm lenses? And don't get me started about all those holes between 18-55 and 18-105. So much more work to do.

Awesome! and so true! Nikon, if you're going to continue to make DX lenses, can we please have so higher end stuff (and not just consumer glass with high-end prices ;)?

Surely all those people still holding out for a D400 have been dreaming of a lens like this to use with it......

And don't even get me started on the 18-117 and 18-127 that I've been waiting for since the D1H .

This lens only makes sense even as a kit lens for a D7100s or as I think will be the case, a D7200 (d7100) with bigger buffer (and of course a "bigger" kit lens). Bah, humbug!!

FX glass seems to love starting at 24mm...why wouldn't they take this and start DX at 16mm? They have one lens, the 16-85, that is in this range but multiples that start at 18.

Ha! Funny.

And also proves how fickle we Nikon users are. When the 18-135 was the NEW kit lens, everyone complained it didn't have VR. Now they've essentially given us that lens with VR and all we can do is say we don't need it!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Perhaps it's just too little, too late.

The old 18-135mm wasn't bad but had wicked CA problems and yes no VR. Clearly this is an update of that (and possibly the 18-105mm too)

Sure maybe we have too many zooms that are slow.
Forget the 18-300mm, big, heavy, slow and optically mediocre and overpriced to boot.

There's actually nothing wrong with having an 18-140mm lens, be assured it will kick the hell out of the 18-200/300mm lenses optically. Anyone looking for a new 17-55mm f2.8 with VR is kidding themselves it would probably be even more expensive than the non VR one.

Bar the 35mm f1.8 I'm not a fan of APS-C primes so I can't see what people are looking for there.

For those looking for a one-stop shop lens, the 18-300 isn't too bad, but definitely too expensive when you can get a 18-55 VR and 55-300 VR for less than the 18-300 or the 18-140.
