I posted a version of this soon after it was shot, didn't think much about the lens used. This thread prompted me to go back and review. It was the 50-135mm f/3.5 Ai-S.

I posted this in the main "lens lust" forum, but figured I'd add it hear since it is a bit more appropriate.

While dropping my Nikon 135mm 2.8 Ai lens off at a local repair shop to have a sticky aperture fixed I found a flawless condition copy of Nikon's famous Ai 105mm f/2.5 for an "out the door price" just a tad shy of $200. I had been considering this lens since first discovering it back around 2015 or so, but just never pulled the trigger. Since getting back in to doing photography after a few years off I have been looking online for a nice one, but was not having much luck unless I wanted to order one from Japan on eBay.

I've only had it a couple days and haven't had much opportunity to use it as of yet, but went out and grabbed these quick shots of two of my Huskies. The red Husky was shot at f/4 and the white one is wide open at f/2.5.

Beautiful, Gary!
I'm sure you're going to enjoy this lens.
Thanks Bart,

I just grabbed this shot a few minutes ago while hanging outside with the pups and had to post it. This was taken at f/4.

And who says you can't get a little action with a manual focus lens? ;-)

Took advantage of the nice weather and went for a ride on my motorcycle today, then came home and grabbed a few more shots with the 105 f/2.5.

Hey Gary: long time no see! All of the shots of the huskies look great. You've got to love this lens. jt
Hello to you as well. Glad to see some familiar names still hanging around and posting.

I'm absolutely loving this lens, and it has been practically glued to my recently acquired D800 since I picked it up several days ago.

Gary: do you care to post your feelings on the D800--I would love to learn from them. Best, jt
