Just picked up this lens this afternoon and took a few test shots. Impressions: Sharp; light; fast focus acquisition; lovely bokeh; butter smooth manual focus ring.

Nikon 85 mm f/1.8s meets deer.

I know this image probably had some cropping, but getting this close to what I am assuming is a wild deer is extremely impressive. Even “habituated” deer I have encountered retain a healthy fear of humans.

I’ve been considering getting this lens for my backyard anole lizards, but it looks like I’ll have to try it on other wildlife, too.

Nothing special, my son's first-ever basketball game in rec-league. 85/1.8S served perfectly well in typically lousy light (hence B/W). Usually reserved for my X-Pro2, I think the Z7 shot better.

Mine came in today, and after a few test shots I am sure my wife will not allow me to use it to take pictures of her :)

Very good++ to excellent at f/1.8 with smooth transitions from in-focus to out of focus areas, beautiful Bokeh. It is damp, breezy and dreary outside, so only one picture with very slight motion blur to share for now, the sharpest part seems to be in the lower right hand side. Maybe this weekend I can take some pictures actually worth sharing.
