No idea what kind of bird this is...

  1. I'm not a bird guy but this one flew into my backyard today and was very striking to look at. Of course he flew off before I could get anything set up so this is all I have.

Can anyone identify this guy for me?

That my friend is a bluejay
  3. Wow, I've never seen one before. They are beautiful birds and much larger than I would have thought. I saw my first cardinal as well so I'm getting a lot of color around my place this spring.

  4. Sure is. At first glance, not seeing the crest, it was a touch puzzling. First time I have seen one where the crest wasn't evident.

    Nice looking bird....
  5. ... and bluejays are memers of the crow family. They're crafty, especially around feeders and their calls are very distinctive. We have quite of few of them in the Toronto area and they'll go after a squirrel if there's a fight for food! They're a lot of fun to watch!
