OK, these are just a collection of BYB's that just about everyone has, but with all of the great posts from my Cafe friends, I just can't sit on the sidelines any longer.

All taken with the D2Hs / 400 2.8 + 1.7 TC.

First, some of some yacky Bluejays.

Just yacking:

I just had to add this one. After seeing Andy's work with fill flash, and having nothing better to do than work on my FF technique, I shot this guy with the sun very much in front of the camera. I was pretty happy with the results.

Hey, Frank, I really like the light on the FF birdy, pretty cool. And catching the iridescence on the Starling is quite neat as well. I like 'em.

Frank,
I really love these photos. I love the Blue Jay with Fill Flash.

Are you using SB-800 itself or products like Better Beamer etc. to supplement it?
Thanks

Sam,

In this case I used the SB-800 with the BB, mounted on a tripod to get it as far away from the lens centerline as possible, and attached to the camera with an SC-28 cord. Since I was shooting out of my office window (screen removed), that gave only about 2.5 feet of separation, but it does eliminate the red-eye (actually the blue-eye ).

Thanks,
