Do I join the dark side (Uncle Frank and his Cronies ) and get the 35/2 prime or do I get the 35-70, a.k.a Baby Beast, as I had somewhat intended on doing, for my D700? What do you think?

    35/2
    without a doubt

    or both

  3. On a D700 ? none of the above.

  4. You're switching to FX, right? If you're looking for a replacement for your Sig 30, a 50mm will be a close match to the lens you are losing. So I'd go with the 35-70 lens.

i vote for the 35/2, or 50/1.4 since you're FF now. didn't you mention you have another Beast at your disposal? also, you might want a mid-range zoom wider than 35mm for your upcoming wedding.

I do intend on getting a 50mm to replace the Dirty Thirty, but I'm waiting till the Sig 50/1.4 comes out.

  8. I like the 35 f/2, I have one but since you have the D700 I'd just get the 35-70 and get the added flexibility!

Well there is no doubt I will get a 50/1.4, but I gotta wait for the Sig. I don't have another beast, but I do have the 20-35/2.8 which will be adequate for the wedding, I think.

Well I don't have the D700 yet...it's being ordered today....argh, the torture of waiting!! You may be right about the flexibility and it would be a good continuation where my 20-35/2.8 ends.....hmmmm....

will the wedding be indoors or outdoors? i took some photos for a friend's indoor wedding earlier this year, and sometimes i felt like my 24mm wasn't wide enough for a zoom. it might be a huge pain for you to constantly switch in between the two lenses (20-35 and 35-70) if you'll be zooming in and out quite frequently.

Well, your 24mm was, in actuality, 36mm. So my 20-35 should definitely be wide enough. The ceremony is outdoors and the reception is indoors. As for switching lenses, I can eliminate that by using my D80 with whatever lens I might feel I'd need to switch to.

Hehe:tongue:. I think grt_napa in the FS forum is strategically posting that Sig 24/1.8 for me. I just know it's aimed at me:confused::wink:

Yeah, that one's been on my mind for days  I ended up going for the Sigma 24/1.8 since it's a little wider and a little faster
