With no travel for the foreseeable future I've been going through some files from past trips. I was able to capture several species of birds during our 2016 trip to NZ. Figured I'd post a few.
These guys are listed in some birding guides as "New Zealand Dotterel" while eBirds lists them as "Red Breasted Dotterel". Whatever...
Edit: Not sure why the EXIF isn't showing up. These were all shot with D7200/AF-S 80-400.
1) A female I think.
2) A littlun
3) Mother and chick. Different birds in a different spot. This was shot in an area where there were several prominent signs posted that it was a breeding area and no pets were allowed. People were walking dogs off leash all over the place.
4) Fighting for .... nesting territory I guess.
5)
6)
7) High G turn.
8) To the victor goes the sand.
