OK, my Tern (sic).

  1. Captured these guys in Door County Wisconsin today on the Lake Michigan side of the peninsula near Sturgeon Bay. D3_400mm f/2.8 VR_TC-17E II.

    I apologize in advance for what may be lousy PP, but I'm doing this on a cheap laptop while still on vacation and the lcd on this thing is scary..

    I noticed that a few seconds after plunging into the water to catch a fish, they'd do sort of a shake, rattle, and roll to rid themselves of the extra water from the dive. Got lucky with this one, note the band on his leg.

  3. Very nice shots! May be a Forster's Tern (Sterna forsteri), breeding adult.

    I do like terns, can you tell?

    Thanks Alex. My bird software says common tern, but it also resembles Forster's tern. They're fun to watch whoever they may be.
