Thanks for the info, now I just need to save a few hundred thousand dollars before May. Well, we must dream.

My first Nikon was an S1 purchased at Ft Sill, okla in 1956. It gave terrific service. Ended up with an SP then went to SLR.

Wow, that auction looks pretty cool. Followed the link in the article and in addition to the Nikon, they are auctioning off a bunch of Leica's and this beauty - a "Carl Zeiss Super-Q-Gigantar .33/40mm" purported to be the fastest lens ever me. Personally, I just want it for the name: "GIGANTAR!". You must have some crazy DoF at f/0.33...

I wonder what the Coma and CA are like with that f0.33 lens. I think somone should buy it, convert to Nikon F and then shoot with a D3s at max ISO. If you could get the subject in focus, the low light capabilities would be unmatched.

Opening bid on the Zeiss lens is $6,000 Euro, so somebody should bit away. They've got some really cool equipment on that site. It is fun browsing through some of the older auctions and seeing what various things have ended up going for.
