OS X image viewer?

Discussion in 'Apple/Mac' started by alex_a, Aug 5, 2007.

  1. What do y'all use for an image viewer on OSX? I'm used to IrfanView on Win, and really found an alternative yet. Xee was the first one I've tried, not much, but it did the basics. CocoViewX is a bit better, but still doesn't offer full functionality I'd like to see (basic batch operations etc).

    Anything else out there?

  2. For just one or two images, Preview does fine. When I want to review a whole CF card's worth of images, I use Photo Mechanic, which is an amazingly fast system for viewing/ranking images prior to putting them into Aperture or CS. I have Photo Mechanic on the Mac Pro for actual work and also on the MBP for quick review if I'm on a trip and have done a lot of shooting. It's a super program! You can work with various viewing/manipulation functions within Photo Mechanic and it also will do very basic photo editing as well.
