Spent the morning on the lake with RandyNikonCafe. I got some of my personal best today with the D200 and 70-300mm VR combo. Great light helped...

This one was totally a grabshot. I swung around just in time to see the osprey picking on the heron. Unbelievable. Too bad they were between me and the Sun. The backlighting is cool, and I guess the silouhette is better than nothing.

  2. All are good, but the interspecies interaction of the last is great!

Great shots all. Don't worry about the backlighting on the last shot - it's awesome. I've seen osprey harrassing vultures in the air several times. It's interesting behavior.
  4. The lighting in the confrontational shot adds a dramatic impact that might have otherwise been lost.

Thanks everyone. It was a once in a liftetime shot I'm sure. I could go back 20 more times and never see an osprey attack a heron. I may crop it differently, but I think I like it in BW.

Beautiful light is quite the understatement and you sure put it to good use. I love them all with #1 being my favorite. Well done!
