Ospreys

  1. I visited our local Osprey nest on a very dull cloudy Saturday morning. It was all I could do to pull off some shots at ISO400. The eggs have hatched, got a quick peek at one of the chicks but that was it. The parents were busy fussing with the nest and feeding each other at the nest.

Here's a few of the shots I got while watching them for about an hour before the rain came in.

    Taken with D2X, 500mm TC1.4 & ISO400.

Got this one carrying a stick back to the nest.

Thanks for posting these pics.

I like the 'slightly dark' sky effect. Generates a more dramatic backdrop (than a blue sky), IMHO.

Another great series Louie, our gray skies didn't hurt those a bit.

  14. Nice series Louie. Glad to hear the chicks have hatched and looking forward to seeing more pics. Don't you hate when the osprey are active and the lighting and weather are crummy.

  15. Thanks Gary. With the weather being what is was I was fortunate to have had these shots turn out as they did.

  16. Well thanks John, but I'm sure getting tired of overcast. It's suppose to be Spring.....at least somewhere.

    Excellent shots, very sharp.

  19. The only chick I saw poked its head once and that was it. More to follow though, I'm sure.
