I spent the day yesterday with David at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia. David was born with a cleft pallet so every 6 months we send an entire day meeting with the cleft pallet team at CHOP'S. We usually meet with eight different doctors and specialists during the visit. I have to commend the staff at CHOP'S as the are among the most professional and courteous people we have ever worked with. During the examination it was discovered that some reconstructive surgery that David had done on his pallet and throat at two years of age will have to be re-done this summer. This is necessary as his speech is really starting to be affected. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as undergoes this new surgery.

I only wish the best for David. I hope the surgery is a success and David won't have to go through it again!

    My prayers are with him.
  3. My thoughts are with you.

On a positive note, my cousin was born with a cleft pallet 20 years ago and has undergone surgery every 2 to 3 years all her life. She has just had her final "gift" op - plastic surgery to re-align her nose and generally sort out any issues she had with her jaw and teeth.

She is now a very confident beautiful young woman reeking havoc upon the local male population.
  4. Just viewed your David gallery on pbase. This little guy is quite a trooper - he's been through a lot and still keeps on going. He'll get through this too. It's a long road at times, but there's always light at the end. It's a great hospital and they work in conjunction with Toronto Sick Children's Hospital. Great doctors, great teams and great attitude about the kids. We're lucky to live in countries where children can receive this type of help. My thoughts are with you.
