OT - is anyone else sick?

its august and i have a cold/flu that is kicking my butt. first day at work this week and i don't know if i'm going to make it to 4 pm. from what i hear this flu is from ontario to british columbia. anyone else suffering?

Thought i had the Swine/Mexican flu last week.But i still speak (for as far i can) Dutch and not Mexican,so it turned to be a regular flu.I think the airco did it.

Got the flu down in the Bay Area (California) a few weeks ago on my 4 hour drive to Lake Tahoe for a mountain bike race.

The flu took me out of work for two days, and left me pretty darn sick for another 5. Got on some antibiotics for a sinus infection, and a little over 3 weeks later I'm fine.

I'm a native Missourian too, but I have to disagree. No; the state's name is never pronounced 'Missoura' by any educated Missourian living in a large city. It is not a native vs. nonnative issue. It's more a regional/socioeconomic thing.

Well, you may have something there, never claimed to be educated and the family is mostly farmers or fresh off the farm. But most folks do pronounce it with an A and no, non-natives always want to put an i on the end.

I'm not sure that this hasn't been over hyped. They keep saying the sky is falling, but I'm just not seeing it.

Both of our kids got a cold within a week of going back to school. Logan is suspected to have asthma though final diagnosis will be held off until fully recovered from the cold. We wanted one of each but I am sure we were not meaning one diabetic and one asthmatic. :frown:

I feel fine. It's extremely rare for me to get sick. I have hardly had any colds or flu for the past 30 years. I figured out long ago how to avoid them and recover very rapidly when one rarely strikes me.

No, not lately. But, a couple of months ago Hannah, my bulldog, came down with an ear infection. Her vet gave us a small bottle of ear drops to clear it up. Several days later I contracted a minor eye infection of the upper eye lid and went to my doctor for that. He gave me a small bottle of drops to be applied twice a day.
The next morning, half asleep, I put the drops in my eye and it stung like crazy. Looking at the bottle with my one good eye I saw that, yep... you guessed it, I had put Hannah's drops in my eye. I washed it out and called the vet to see if there was anything to be concerned about and he said that he didn't think so but I might want to check it out.

I got an appointment with an eye specialist, sat down in his chair and told him what I had done and that the only bad side effect, as nearly as I could tell, was that I had a great urge to bark at any cat I saw.
He chuckled and told me about a lady that had come in a few months earlier and that she had mistakenly dropped super glue in her eye. He said they were able to get it out without resorting to surgery.
