I dusted off the D70 to do some shooting today since my D2x is at Nikon. I forgot how small the viewfinder is.

My first dragon fly. More bugs to come once I get them processed.

Thanks Gordon. It seems strange to shoot with lenses that weigh more than the body.

One last bee shot. Not sure if I like it though.

Hi Charles,

Wow, if this is what you do with your D70, I wonder what your D2X outputs?? The images are so sharp and contrasty. I really like them. Which lens did you use? Are these hand held?

Ha! My bank account is as small as my D70 viewfinder.
Pretty satisfied with my D70. I miss mirror lock up and HATE the small viewfinder.

Is the viewfinder worth the D2x investment in your opinion?

My D2x had some focus problems. Hopefully I will get it back before fall hits here.

This was a 300mm f4 + 1.4TC + 20mm extension tube mounted on a tripod.

I upgraded to the D2x for many reasons. The viewfinder, faster AF, MLU, 12mp, ISO 100, vertical grip, better white balance, and many more things. Faster AF was the main one for me since most of my lenses were AF-D. The D70 can't turn them as fast as the pro bodies can.

Very nice series Charles. You make that lens and extension tube combo work very well. Hope your 'X' gets back soon. I like my D70 too, but I sure missed the 'H' while it was away getting the metering fixed last year.
