Both are great shots. Both, in my opinion and for my taste, need cropping to make them even more interesting.
In the first one I would crop some from the right side of the frame. I believe the "zoom explosion" effect on the left actually makes the shot from a compositional standpoint.
The second one will benefit from straightening the church, cropping and composing tighter to make all those lines work in the composition. It would have been nice to see the top of the church in the original.
I like the effect you created in both.
