Overwintering Monarch butterflies - Mexico

  1. Hi All

After spending a lot of time with Monarch butterfly caterpillars and chrisalids last summer I really looked forward to visiting their overwintering area in the mountains west of Mexico city in February. It had snowed there for the first time in 3 years but the slog up the mountain in 6" of snow, slush and mud was worth it.

There were supposedly 80,000,000 butterflies at the site. Here are a few of them.

    Cheers,

    Larry

  3. Wow, excellent trip!

  4. That's amazing - it boggles the mind thinking about 80 million of them in one spot!
