Owl and baby

Discussion in 'Birds' started by Vinod Menon, Apr 25, 2005.

  1. I heard from somebody at work that there was this owl nesting in a nearby forest preserve. So I went this weekend looking for it and got a few shots. There were two owlets too, but I was able to see only one, when he peeked up for a brief moment. :)

I second Gale's WOW!! These are great. I've yet to ever see an owl. They are high on my list of desirable targets.

    Very nice Vinod.

  4. That second shot is great with the mom in the background but yet the image concentrates on the baby. Well done and what a fortunate sighting.
  5. Nice shootin'! :D  :D

I make this out to be a Long Eared Owl. Great find and nice shots. love the contrast
  9. Vinod,

Just superb! What a great opportunity and you sure took advantage of it. Great shots, all 3. I think I prefer #2 as well, by a ... feather.
  10. Very nice I am dying to someday get a chance to shoot these guys, I have always been fascinated by these birds.
  11. Thanks everyone for the kind comments, I will probably make another trip there sometime soon. :)

  12. Hi Greg,
I am not able to figure out if it is the Long Eared Owl or the Great Horned Owl, they both look very similar. I'll do some more research :D
