I've been busy and haven't posted anything for a while. Finally got out on the boat and managed to fire a frame or two. There was a pair of amiable oyster catchers in the cove where we anchored one night.

D850/500mm PF, handheld from kayak

1) Mommy why is that bird sitting on the other one?

Thanks, Karen. The 850/500PF is an excellent combo.
Terrific shots Dan, very well done.
Thanks, Louis. I like those little guys.
Nicely done. Harder than it looks

Thanks, Gary. Indeed it is. Always seems to be something that's not just right.
Having shot quite a few of these, I know how hard they are to follow, you did great!
Thanks, Andreas. They can cover a lot of ground.

Nice shots Dan, I still don't trust my kayak enough to shoot my expensive gear from.
Thanks, Bill. I shoot out of a very stable inflatable kayak. They call it a kayak but it's really like a really long narrow raft. Almost impossible to flip it. Plus I carry my camera/lens in a dry bag and only take it out when there's something to shoot.

Thanks, Bobby. I love these birds. I've shot them in AK, the US Gulf Coast, Australia, and New Zealand. Minor differences in colors and plumage but all have orange beaks/eyes and all act the same.
