Things are picking up at Viera. There was a feeding frenzy going on in one of the cells with well over 50 birds and 20 gators within a 75 sq ft section. The egrets, both snowy and great were doing a lot of fishing on the fly. This immature black-crowned night heron was letting the other birds do the fishing and then stealing their catch. Fish weren't the only thing on the menu. Two days later I made it back and found an accommodating tri-colored heron willing to pose for me. The black-bellied whistling ducks were everywhere. Here they looked as if they were inspecting the tree for a possible nest site. Black-bellied family Two more days later and the tri-colored was back and again very accommodating.
