Pet: My 2 Maine Coon cats

Figured I'd share some shots of my Maine Coons, they will both be 2 years old in September. They are 1 week apart from different parents but have grown up together, both are such gentle and loving cats (and love the camera).

Thank you both for the comments. They really are great cats. For anyone not familiar with Maine Coons, they are known as "gentle giants" due to their friendly and playful demeanor and their large size. Females average around 16-20lbs (Lucy is around 18lbs already) and males can get over 29lbs and not be obese. I've always wanted one of them since I was younger and as a late birthday/early xmas/get well after shoulder surgery present my fiancee got me these two (it was just supposed to be Lucy but when we visited the breeder after they were born my fiancee and the breeder saw how I wanted all of them and they surprised me with Sidney as well).

haha, Sidney is sort of like that, she'll "bite" and grab you with her paw but she never clamps down or anything so if you just leave your hand there she lets go after a second, I guess its her way of showing that she's tough or something. Right after that she'll push her face to your hand again so you can pet her some more.

What beauties they are! We used to have a tortie maine coon affectionately called "Sugar." We still miss our gentle loving giant!

Very nice kitties. I like photos # 3 and 6 the best. They are so much bigger than my little Persian. Beautiful kitties.

2,3 and 6 are my favorites. I have a 18.5 lb tabby cat (only a pound or two overweight - just a big guy) and he seems like a moose to me. I can't imagine an even bigger cat.

Sidney's dad was a healthy 25lbs he was so handsome and gentle though, luckily the females don't get that large :smile:
