I was a professional educator and over my career I worked at secondary and college level as well as corporate level. In all cases we were well briefed and cautioned on copyright laws regarding anything we might use in our classroom. I would have NEVER used someone's photograph or material in my class without written authorization from the original author or the copyright holder. In addition we were instructed to consider ALL outside material to be copyrighted unless we had documentation of it being otherwise. I am shocked at how this court ruled and am disappointed in the museum's stand on using this person's material without permission.
