I photographed these ducks yesterday in Cape May NJ. Please excuse the quality of these shots as they are heavily cropped and enlarged. They kind of look like a mallard except for the bill which is much larger. Canvas backs maybe? I am a complete novice at this birding stuff :frown:

I think they are Northern Shovelers. Have to check the Sibley when I get home though.

    Nice shots.

Thanks for the kind words Gale. While it was nice to enjoy the peace and solitude, I really don't think this type of shooting is my niche. I will leave it up to the rest of you and your tremendous examples.

  8. I would have gone with Cyrano deBergerac (sp) ducks because of the long beak.  Have you noticed if they joust at windmills?? Nice images.

  9. Gordon. I thought it was Don Quixote that jousted at Windmills.

Cyrano de Bergerac was an early windsurfer. He'd stand on a log, turn his head into the wind and sail off into the sunset.
