Poor man's Creamer

  1. I like my old manual Ai 50mm f/1.4 more and more. No, an 85 f/1.4 it ain't, but I love the results (once you master the focusing, as described in another thread: https://www.nikoncafe.com/vforums/showthread.php?t=58101 ).
Here is Fluff. Available light on a very dull afternoon. Tough exposure (Fluff being very black and very white, quite a bit of backlight) and yet, the good ole D1x did very well in Aperture Priority:

Pretty Fluff Frits. What was your aperture setting for this one?
  3. Thanks Frank.
I had it wide open @ f/1.4 (focused on right eye).
Ultimate sharpness suffered a bit since I had a shutter speed of 1/30 sec. only (handheld).
I did kick up ISO to 320 to be able to shoot this at all. Again, it was very somber, which is why I shot it, to see how it would come out.
  4. I like you own the low fat cream machine! It is a stellar performer in its own right great shot of Fluff
  5. For those interested, I have uploaded a few testshots I made with the Ai 50 f/1.4. In my opinion: razor sharp, great color / contrast. Nice focal length (equiv. 75mm with the D1x).

Be sure to select "original" quality, since Pbase sometimes defaults to "medium".

  6. Love the look produced by this lens. Love the kitty too! Perfect focusing point on this pic.
