Featured Critique Posing Rosie

Discussion in 'Birds' started by gchappel, Mar 20, 2019.

  1. There was a little patch of light, deep in the shadows under the trees.
I waited. I am not a patient man, but with a camera in hand waiting is easy.
A mature Rosie walked into the light, and stopped to bathe and preen.
A foot to either side- no picture.
    One of many poses.
Then she flew off, light was still there but no more players.
I rarely print in color, but black and white does not do this justice.

    That’s a beauty!
  5. It’s great and beautiful. Like a dancer under spotlight.

  6. Thanks. She was a beautiful bird in almost studio type lighting for several minutes.
Hard to take a bad picture of a beautiful sight.
  7. Thanks for mentioning dance. Dance is in my genes, but not my feet. My parents were both dancers and dance was part of our family. I think of the beauty of the dancers I have seen as I shoot my images. I am glad some of that comes across.
    Thanks again
  8. Not sure what would be an appropriate penalty for converting this one to B/W but something severe :D

You patience really paid off. That is one awesome shot.
  9. Nice pose - really in full color!

Excellent work! Great colors, reflection and pose! And the processing results in a very nice Fine Art image, IMHO!
  12. Very nice. That's the first time I've heard anything but a Rosy-Finch called a Rosie.

  13. I do try to do fine art wildlife images, so thanks for recognizing the goal.
As Art Morris famous saying, "Birds as Art." I try to think of fine art dance as I shoot and also when post processing.
