Ok, I know this is not a thread for telling a story, but Chris' photo just reminded me of this one.

My former partner's wife had a terrible fear of heights. However, she was always doing things that required one to be at a great height, in hopes that she would lose her fear of heights. So she decided to learn how to hang glide. When she went for her second lesson it was a breezy day. Her instructor told her that she was not experienced enough to fly in that wind. She was, however, a very persuasive person; and, she hounded him until he agreed to allow her to go up. She started out just fine; but very soon, she completely lost control and came plummeting to the ground. She describes her decent by saying that she just kept seeing black and white spots coming up at her. Well, it turned out that the black and white spots were on the cows in the field into which she was falling. She landed on one of those cows, resulting in her breaking her leg...and killing the cow. It was the farmer's prize cow on which she landed, and he sued her.

Believe me, BOTH sets of wings are in danger!!!!!! I've seen canopies blown to bits by "bird strikes". We had a pilot who's shoulder was broken while landing an F-4...........goose went right through the front surface of the canopy.
