PRE-DAWN Red Tailed Hawk

    This stunning bird and I have a relationship. Typically, I see him and he flies away :)

    This morning, before the sun ever crested the horizon, I finally got shots of him in so little light that the camera wouldn't focus with the TC and the 500.

    These were shot at 700 MM, ISO 500, a 5 second self timer and the .4 second delay mode enabled.

  2. Really nice shots Jim. Interesting pinkish red background. Was it overcast and is that where the glow comes from.

    Hi Gordon....

    It was a very high overcast and fog behind the bird. The pink color comes from the glow of the sun out over the ocean as it lit the clouds before it had even come up.
