Problem with Bronze reflector

I used a bronze reflector last weekend on a photo shoot. It did a marvelous job on eliminating the shadows on the subjects face. Only problem was that it was blinding her when I put the reflection on her face. It there any way that this problem can be minimized?

Thin white tissue paper over the top. Will cut the specularity significantly and still allow some bronze light to reflect up.
